Welcome to the Captains room - a special place within the Martine Inn – appointed with historic décor that continues to inspire romance and relaxation. Of note, the Captains room was the maintenance room for the complex and then the shop where Don did his engine restoration.

Upon your introduction to this guest room you are sure to notice the fascinating furnishings: an 1850 Captain style American walnut hand carved bed with porcelainized copper inserted finials ebonized and inlaid floral; Marble top drop center dresser, 5 drawers with mirror, 2 candle shelves fluted corner columns porcelainized copper insert ebonized elaborate carved crown; 1860 Rosewood finger mold hand carved upholstered chair; 1900 Porcelain painting sailing ships; 1860 Walnut platform upholstered rocker carved crown burled walnut applied; 1860 Walnut square table reverse finials, 4 turned legs, 4 turned supports, ball feet; 1880 Small round walnut side table turned center post, 3 claw foot legs; 1900 Sailing ship oil painting Harrison; 1890 Pair French walnut night tables with porcelainized copper inserts on drawer front, 1 drawer.

Of interest are the matching slag lampshades with unmatched bases (1910 Pair filigreed metal slag lamps blue and gold matching shades - different bases). These were purchased nine months apart – one in San Mateo and the other in New Monterey at auctions.
