Welcome to the California room - a spacious room that continues to delight guests with its blend of elegance and stylish comfort.

The California room was the grounds keeper’s bedroom that managed the estate and was the nephew of Mr. Parke. It is the only room in the four building complex with open rafters and a beamed ceiling.

Upon entering this room you are sure to notice the fine furnishings that work together to create an ambiance of romance. Within this room is an 1880 American painted Eastlake queen bed with painted incised lines, floral painted footboard and river scene with waterfall painted on headboard; 1890 Eastlake oak armoire 2 door, 2 drawer incised lines crown molding top; 1880 3 leg turned center post piano stool with upholstered rectangular seat cast iron swivel; 1920 Pair China floral décor lamps brass base fringed shade; 1930 Oil painting of garden by Sally Parke; 1910 Brass bridge floor lamp with glass shade; and a 1915 Green onyx and brass table lamp with square fringe shade.

As you explore further you are sure to be intrigued by an 1890 screen scalloped silver bridal basket with hinged handle; 1880 American painted Eastlake dresser, 2 drawers, 2 candle shelves, and rectangular beveled mirror, floral incised lines painted; 1880 American painted Eastlake night stand floral top - 2 shelves; 1880 American Walnut Eastlake small side table with inset marble top turned column; and a 1870 Walnut American Eastlake table round floral inlaid top carved legs turned center post very elaborate.

Entering the bathroom you will find: a tile shower; 1890 square marble basin; and an 1880 American painted Eastlake washstand with 3 drawers, 1 door, floral back, top, doors and drawer fronts.
