Explore the Coast

The Martine Inn is excited to present our new blog and website! Please stay tuned as we will be updating our blog to share the latest and greatest surrounding the Martine Inn, local events and attractions. Yesterday, a great white shark moved into the Monterey Bay Aquarium right down the street from the Martine Inn.  The young shark, a four-foot, seven-inch male weighing 4 pounds, was collected near Marina del Rey, CA.  Since then, the shark has been in an ocean holding pen.  He plans on staying at the aquarium for several months.  When he gets too big he will be released back in to the ocean.  The Monterey Bay Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world to have a great white shark visit for more than 16 days.  He will not be here very long, so if you want to see a great white shark up close and safely, be sure to take advantage of this opportunity.  And of course since we are so close and you can get a 2 day ticket for the aquarium from us for the price of a 1 day ticket you will want to be located as close to the shark as possible and that means a stay at the Martine Inn.  The Martine Inn is located in a quiet residential area of Pacific Grove only 1500 feet from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the bustling night life of Cannery Row.  Take the coastal trail along the waterfront from the Martine Inn stopping along the way to watch the seals sunbathing on the beach of the Stanford Marine Labs.  You may wonder exactly how close the Martine Inn is to the aquarium.  One way to describe it is the aquarium is 2/3 in Monterey and 1/3 in Pacific Grove, so Pacific Grove cannot be very far away.
